3D Design

3D Design at KS4 invites students to explore ideas through creative making, problem-solving and experimentation. Whether working with materials, modelling, digital tools or sculptural techniques, students are encouraged to think like designers — to imagine, build, refine and communicate visually. This hands-on subject aligns with our Maximise Your Potential approach by inspiring students to take creative risks and develop a strong personal design identity.

The subject overview provides clear information on the two assessed components — the portfolio and the externally set assignment — including expectations for research, experimentation and final outcomes. It also outlines how students can develop the assessment objectives over time, and how parents can support with materials, encouragement and discussion of ideas. This guide helps families understand the creative journey and how best to support it.
