With over 11 years of experience in education, I am a dedicated English teacher with a strong background in pastoral care and pupil support. I began my career after graduating from Liverpool John Moores University and have since worked as a teacher of English in numerous schools across Liverpool and Widnes. I also served as Head of Year 8, where I developed a deep understanding of pupil development and wellbeing.
I am currently a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo), a role in which I work closely with pupils, parents, teachers, and external agencies to ensure that individual learning needs are identified and effectively met. I lead on the implementation of personalised learning plans, contribute to whole-school inclusion strategies, and provide staff training to promote best practice in supporting pupils with a wide range of needs, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and those requiring targeted interventions. I am passionate about breaking down barriers to learning and ensuring every pupil has access to the support and opportunities they need to thrive both academically and personally.
As an English teacher, I am committed to continually developing my practice. I enhance my subject knowledge and teaching strategies by marking both English Literature and English Language GCSE papers annually, which provides valuable insight into national standards and exam board expectations. This experience directly informs my classroom teaching and helps me better prepare pupils for exam success.
